Heat Stay Hot With Comeback Against Warriors

MIAMI -- Thanks to a dominant second half on both ends of the floor, the Miami Heat clawed their way to victory against the scrappy Golden State Warriors, 114-107, on Saturday night. After coming out flat with none of the characteristics that have placed them as one of the top defensive teams in the NBA, the Heat were able to overcome a 20-point deficit to stun the Warriors.

"A tale of two halves," said Heat coach Erik Spoelstra afterward. "We were able to grind it out in the second half and pull away. Our energy and momentum was created on the defensive side of the floor."

Warriors Unstoppable Early

The Warriors scored 72 points before halftime as the Heat's defenders could not close out Golden State's shooters because of the dribble-drive penetration of Monta Ellis and Stephen Curry. The Heat gave the Warriors little resistance while the sold-out crowd, most of whom were in their seats by tipoff, quietly looked on as the hometown team almost looked unrecognizable.

"It was a little bit of everything. Mentally, we weren't in the game," LeBron James explained. "We didn't have a lot of energy to start the game. Some of it had to do with us and some of it had to do with them executing their offense. We just didn't have what we usually have on the defensive end. When that happens, it makes it a lot easier for them offensively."

"So pretty much what he said is we sucked," interrupted Dwyane Wade, sitting next to him at the postgame press conference.
