Billy Cundiff Reportedly Agrees to Five-Year Deal With Ravens

The Ravens wasted no time by re-signing one of their priority players on Monday when Pro Bowl kicker Billy Cundiff and the team reportedly agreed on a five-year, $15 million deal, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

A Ravens spokesperson stated that the team's agreement with Cundiff, 30, isn't confirmed, but Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said that they were in negotiations, according to The Baltimore Sun.

The journeyman kicker was involved in a competitive competition for the team's kicking duties with Shayne Graham during training camp, which caused Harbaugh to, at times, question himself on who should he select. After a NFL record-tying season of 40 touchbacks on kickoffs, it was clear that Harbaugh chose the right kicker, which makes the re-signing of Cundiff an important matter for the team.

"I'll be very surprised if something doesn't get done with Billy Cundiff, and I'll be disappointed," said Harbaugh on Jan. 17. "But I think it's going to happen."

Not since the days of Matt Stover could the Ravens find a kicker who delivers in critical situations. Steve Hauschka had his chance to replace the former Ravens legendary kicker but struggled. Cundiff displayed his talents and accuracy as he converted 26 out of 29 field goals in 2010 after replacing Hauschka during the 2009 season.

The Ravens have 17 unrestricted free agents and the re-signing of Cundiff would be huge for the Ravens.
