Nolan Ryan: Extension for GM Jon Daniels 'a Priority'

The Rangers made their big splash of the offseason earlier this month by signing third baseman Adrian Beltre to a big-money deal, but there still may be some business to take care of before spring training.

General manager Jon Daniels' contract with the club runs out after the 2011 season, and Texas is now focusing on making the sure the architect of a team that went to the World Series last season sticks around for much longer.

"I would expect that something will be done before spring training," team president Nolan Ryan told the Dallas Morning News when asked about a possible extension for Daniels.

"If he had not been on vacation these last 10 days, we might be much further along. It's going to be a priority for us for the next couple of weeks."
