Eight-Year-Old Jets Fan Reportedly Tackled at Game By Adult Browns Fan

For those of you clicking on this story on the natural assumption that the headline was a mistake and should have read in the reverse, I am sorry to disappoint you, but you do not need to have your eyes checked. According to reports from the ABC television affiliate in Cleveland, an 8-year-old New York Jets fan appears to have been tackled by a disgruntled adult Browns fan in the parking lot after the Jets pulled out a 26-20 overtime victory last Sunday.

Back in the days of the original Dawg Pound there might have been some unsavory words thrown around along with the dog biscuits that littered the field, but I don't recall hearing of any incidents involving kids being physically harassed. That shouldn't happen at any stadium, but now this child's view of football has been permanently altered, at least when it comes to attending games in person.

"My husband asked him, 'Did you have a good time?' He said 'Yes.' He said 'Would you want to go back sometime?' And he said 'No, I don't like Browns Stadium.' Who could blame him?" the boy's mother said.

According to the version of events she provided to the television station, the family had actually enjoyed the experience inside the stadium and she pointed out that the Clevelanders "were great" around where they sat. But once they reached the parking lot it was an entirely different scene as angry fans seeing her son's New York Jets jersey began throwing food at them and shouting profanities.
