A representative for Jenn Sterger told FanHouse on Tuesday night that money never has been the goal of his client in regards to settling the sexting scandal involving Brett Favre, despite what a rep for the quarterback said.
Bus Cook, Favre's agent, told The Associated Press that reps for Sterger made "numerous overtures" to settle, and he added in a statement that he believes money is the motivating factor in this case that has landed Favre under an ongoing NFL investigation.
"There have never been any conversations (about money) other than the one time I talked to Bus Cook a day before the story broke," New York-based manager Phil Reese said in a phone interview. "He asked if we had a specific figure in mind. I told him, 'I wish it was that easy. I really wish it was.'
"There have been absolutely no settlement talks. When this happened two years ago, (Sterger) wanted no part of this mess. It really sucks for everyone involved. It's not like we're angling a way to profit off this. It's really a terrible situation here. There are no winners here."
Reese said he contacted Cook in the days before Deadspin's October story about inappropriate messages and racy photos allegedly sent from Favre's cell phone.
