Saints' Will Smith Arrested, Charged With Domestic Abuse

New Orleans Saints defensive end Will Smith was arrested early Saturday morning after police officers allegedly saw Smith assault his wife as the two were leaving a nightclub in Lafayette, La.

Fox 8 News in New Orleans reports that officers patrolling in Lafayette noticed a heated argument between Smith and his wife outside a nightclub at about 2 a.m. Saturday. Police allegedly saw Smith grab his wife's hair and pull her down the street. Police intervened, arrested the Saint, and charged him with domestic abuse and simple battery.

Smith was released on a $1,000 bond and will make a court appearance Monday. The Saints won their Thanksgiving Day game against the Cowboys 30-27. New Orleans next plays at Cincinnati on Dec. 5.
