CALGARY, Alta. -- They're currently near the bottom of the Western Conference, riding a four-game losing streak and their month ahead is paved with hotels and restaurant food.
It's certainly a grim situation for the Calgary Flames, a team that will play eight of their next 10 games on the road -- a daunting prospect, to be sure.
The team left Monday for an encounter with the Avalanche in Denver on Tuesday and will follow that up with back-to-back tilts in Phoenix and San Jose. After returning home for a pair, the club is off again for five.
"It's a crucial month for us,'' agreed forward Alex Tanguay, after Monday's practice. "We haven't gotten off to the start we'd like, but we still feel we're in position to be successful. But we have to turn it around quickly. You don't want to lose another two or three and get really behind the eight-ball, just to get into the playoffs.''
