The PGA Tour heads to sunny Orlando and Disney for the final stop of the 2010 season, but the Children's Miracle Network Classic won't be about fireworks and theme parks for a number of players in the field. This week will be all about who earns tour eligibility for 2011.With the top 125 players earning an exemption, it's no surprise that all but one of the 120 through 132 ranked players on the money list will take part. The lone exception is Henrik Stenson, who is already exempt through 2014 after winning the Players Championship a year ago. The key for these guys this week will be to make the cut. Failing to bank any money this week, they have to depend on everyone else for help.
Among the players on the cut line, Troy Matteson, pictured, could be in a good position to move up from the 125th spot that he currently finds himself. He has only one appearance at this tournament, but shot 18 under and finished tied for sixth. His scoring average of 66.75 in four rounds here is the lowest of any player in the history of the tournament regardless of the amount of rounds played.
The favorites for the week likely won't come from the group straddling the top 125 line. There are a number of proven veterans that should fit in well at the Magic Kingdom. Davis Love III, Justin Leonard, and Vijay Singh have shown in years past that they enjoy this place. Love won here two years ago and has seven top 10s. Leonard lost in a playoff a year ago and tied for sixth in 2007. Singh won at Disney win in 2003 to go along with five top 10s.
Keep an eye on rookie Rickie Fowler as well. He might be winless as a professional in his young career, but he keeps knocking on the door. Another strong finish could land him the Rookie of the Year award, but Fowler might not have been here if it wasn't for the Kodak Challenge. The 21-year-old has participated in more tournaments than he had planned, including a trip to Shanghai for the HSBC last week.
