Although Vikings coach Brad Childress told his players on Monday that Randy Moss was on the way out, the team waited more than 24 hours before actually cutting Moss loose. The reason? Apparently, Vikings owner Zygi Wilf was so incensed that Childress didn't consult with him on the decision that Wilf considered keeping Moss and firing Childress.
Ed Werder of ESPN reported that when it was clear Moss and Childress couldn't work together, Wilf wasn't sure whose side to take.
For his part, Childress declined to give an answer on Friday when asked whether he sensed that his boss had lost faith in him.
"My sense doesn't make any difference," Childress said. "You'd have to speak to him on that. We've always communicated very well and I haven't seen any change on that."
