New U.S. national team midfielder Jermaine Jones has injured ligaments in his right ankle and is set for a spell on the sidelines.The 28-year-old midfielder, who impressed during his first two appearances with the U.S. early this month, tore one ligament and "damaged another" during Schalke 04's German Cup victory of FSV Frankfurt on Tuesday, according to this report on FIFA's Web site.
Jones was replaced in the 77th minute.
