Brewers Make Ron Roenicke Hiring Official, Give Him 2-Year Deal

The Milwaukee Brewers made the hiring of Ron Roenicke as their next manager official Thursday. Roenicke, who has spent the last five seasons as the Angels bench coach, will address the media in a 2:30 p.m. ET press conference.

The Brewers signed Roenicke to a two-year contract with a club option for 2013, making him the 18th manager in franchise history and the fourth in the last three seasons.

"Ron brings to the Brewers the skill set needed to maintain high standards of professional excellence and success," said general manager Doug Melvin in a statement.

"I am extremely confident that he will develop an organizational culture that fosters teamwork. Ron projects self-confidence, authority and enthusiasm, which will inspire performance.
