Rich Rodriguez has been cleared of wrongdoing related to an NCAA allegation that he didn't promote an atmosphere of compliance, according to a report. The NCAA's decision will be reportedly be announced Thursday afternoon. An investigation was launched in August 2009 around statements from players on Rodriguez's 2008 and 2009 teams that the amount of time they spent on football in the season and offseason exceeded NCAA limits. Michigan began its own investigation, separate from the NCAA's.
In February, Michigan released the NCAA Notice of Allegations, which detailed five allegations in total. The school accepted responsibility for four of them, and declared a length list of self-imposed penalties that included two years of probation and reduced practice time.
The fifth violation -- that the school failed to promote an atmosphere of compliance -- was challenged before the NCAA Committee on Infractions in August.
