Oklahoma State Thumps Texas, Moves Step Closer to Big 12 South Title

This is quickly turning into the season Oklahoma State settles some long-standing scores in the Big 12.

First, there was last month's victory over Texas Tech in Lubbock for the first time since 1944. Then the 12th-ranked Cowboys went into Texas' Royal-Memorial Stadium on Saturday night and came out with a convincing 33-16 win for their first victory over the Longhorns since 1997 and their first win in Austin since 1944.

You get the feeling these Cowboys (9-1, 5-1 Big 12) are on a mission as they moved one step closer to securing their first Big 12 South division title.

"I'm very proud of our football team," said OSU coach Mike Gundy. "They've come a long ways.

"There was a lot of talk about us not winning here in a long time and about us not beating Texas in a long time. I'm just very proud of our football team."
