Albert Haynesworth was suspended by the Redskins for "conduct detrimental to the team" on Tuesday. While the NFLPA plans to appeal the suspension, for now Haynesworth will miss the last four games of the season without pay.Suspending a player for "conduct detrimental to the team" is an NFL team's recourse for ridding themselves of a cancerous player without pay, and it's hard to argue that Haynesworth's behavior damaged the Redskins on and off the field. Especially given Mike Shanahan's statement explaining the Haynesworth suspension, which outlines Haynesworth's refusal "to cooperate with our coaching staff in a variety of ways over an extended period of time."
The suspension makes Haynesworth perhaps the biggest free agent bust in NFL history, but he's not the first prominent player to be exiled from his team for being a disruption recently.
