The White Sox could have the team they wanted in July as soon as Monday if all goes to plan with Paul Konerko. The free-agent first baseman, who has spent the last 12 seasons on the South Side of Chicago, could reach a deal with a team at the Winter Meetings in Lake Buena Vista, Fla, according to SI.com's Jon Heyman.Heyman reported that Konerko and/or his agent, Craig Landis, are scheduled to meet with White Sox officials on Monday, and that the deal could be worth $13 million a season. The length is unclear, though with Konerko turning 35 next March, it doesn't figure to be more than three or four years.
Signing Konerko would complete a whirlwind couple of days. They agreed to a four-year, $56 million deal with slugger Adam Dunn on Thursday. He figures to become a full-time DH with Konerko back in the fold. Shortly after signing Dunn, they secured the return of catcher A.J. Pierzynski.
