Giants Trying to Keep Pace in Conference

Remember back in September when seemingly everyone was ripping the NFC? These days, it's looking more and more likely that a 10-6 team or two will miss the playoffs in the conference something that hasn't happened since 1991 when Philadelphia and San Francisco suffered that fate.

Philadelphia and New York are tied at 8-4 for the NFC East lead and meet next week. The Eagles will likely be favored in their other three games while the Giants will be except at Green Bay where the Packers are also 8-4, a game behind NFC North leader Chicago, to whom they play host in the finale. Green Bay is favored this Sunday at Detroit but will be an underdog next week at 10-2 New England. The Bears are an underdog to the Patriots on Sunday, will then be favored to beat Minnesota and play host to the 9-3 New York Jets in two weeks.

The NFC South is even more stacked with Atlanta (10-2), New Orleans (9-3) and Tampa Bay (7-5). The defending Super Bowl champion Saints finish the year at the Falcons and at home against the Bucs. Only the NFC West, which doesn't have a team over .500, isn't formidable.
