Jerry Jones Gives Wade Phillips Vote of Confidence Despite 0-2 Start

Filed under: Cowboys, NFC East, NFL Coaching, NFL RumorsJerry Jones, the outspoken owner of the Dallas Cowboys, gave head coach Wade Phillips a vote of confidence on Friday despite the team's 0-2 start to the season. While speaking to KRLD-FM in Dallas, Jones was asked if Phillips was in danger of losing his job if the Cowboys were to lose at Houston in Week 3.

Jones responded: "I can just give you a very affirmative 'No.' "

The Cowboys lost their first two games of the season to Washington and Chicago, two teams that did not make the playoffs last year. Jones' $1.2 billion Cowboys Stadium, which opened last season, will host this year's Super Bowl. The Cowboys were a preseason favorite among many to win the NFC and head to the Super Bowl, giving them the ostensible "home game" in Dallas.

But the Cowboys have struggled out of the gate. Meanwhile, the Texans sit at 2-0.

Phillips signed a new two-year contract after the Cowboys won the NFC East last season for the second time in his three seasons coaching the team. Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments
