So it comes as no surprise that Irvin, who grew up in South Florida and starred at the University of Miami before going onto a legendary NFL career with the Dallas Cowboys, has befriended Miami's newest offensive weapon.
Marshall appeared on Irvin's daily radio show this past Tuesday on 560-WQAM in Miami and will now be a regular guest in that same time slot (1:30 p.m.) and during the show it was revealed that the two had dinner on Monday night and talked about a lot of things. Irvin even said he learned a few things from Marshall, like how the fifth-year Pro Bowler takes advantage of the Cover 2.
Irvin in his playing days was 6-foot-2 and 207 pounds and Marshall is 6-4, 230, but Irvin loved to go across the middle, like Marshall does, and invited contact. In addition to being able to play physical, "The Playmaker" also had deceptive speed and could run away from defenders after the catch or on deep routes.
Though Marshall has not been described as a burner, he has shown the ability to do the same thing and in fact had to slow up last week in Buffalo after getting open deep for what would have been a 54-yard touchdown pass. Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments
