Heisman Trophy 2005 Winner to Remain Vacant, Trust Says

Filed under: HeismanLess than 24 hours after Reggie Bush released a statement saying he would forfeit the 2005 Heisman Trophy, the Heisman Trust has announced that there will be no winner for the prestigious award in that particular season, the only such year in the award's 75-year history.

Once Bush relinquished the trophy, there was slight public push to give the award to Vince Young -- the Texas quarterback who finished second in voting that season, before leading the Longhorns over Bush's USC squad in the national championship.

Instead, the Heisman Trophy Trust released an official statement saying the 2005 line on lists of Heisman Trophy winners will simply remain empty for all posterity.
