Brett Gardner, Nick Swisher Out of Lineup, Among Still-Ailing Yankees

Filed under: Yankees, AL East, MLB InjuriesST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Brett Gardner's injured right wrist isn't cooperating. Nick Swisher's bothersome left knee hasn't improved and another MRI is scheduled. And pitcher Andy Pettitte will make his second rehab start Tuesday for Double-A Trenton.

And, to top it off, the Yankees have lost six of seven as they prepare to meet the Rays here Monday night in the first of a three-game series that could go a long way toward determining the AL East champion.

While pitching matchup has an October feel to it with aces CC Sabathia (Yankees) and David Price (Rays), the Yankees are trying to hold it together during this pennant chase while their health improves. Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments
