2010-11 Tampa Bay Lightning Preview: The Yzerman-Boucher Era Begins

Filed under: LightningThe past three years have not been very kind to the Tampa Bay Lightning. The franchise is amid a playoff drought and has not won a playoff series since claiming the Stanley Cup in 2004.

A change was in order, and this offseason the team completely overhauled their management and roster, creating widespread optimism throughout the Tampa area about their hockey team. The Lightning named Hall of Famer Steve Yzerman general manager in May and he did not waste any time doing things his way in Tampa.

Shortly after Yzerman took his post, the former Red Wing great completely revamped the coaching staff and made a multitude of moves in hopes of improving an already talented roster. The Lightning finishing a disappointing 12th place last year in the Eastern Conference, collapsing after it looked like they would be a playoff team prior to the Olympic break. Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments
