Will Sunday night be Brian Westbrook's West Coast coming out party? It would be fitting for Westbrook, a heady, productive player with Philadelphia for eight years, to jump up and be noticed with his new team, the 49ers, when San Francisco plays host to the Eagles Sunday night in Candlestick Park.
The veteran running back has played in just four snaps in four regular season games for San Francisco after having signed a one-year, $1.25 million deal with the 49ers in August.
That could change this time through, in part because the 49ers need to do something different after having gotten off to an 0-4 start and in part because tight end Delanie Walker isn't going to play with a high-ankle sprain, and the club will have to reallocate the 20 snaps a game Walker was in.
Either way, Westbrook is anxious, or even over-anxious.
"I've been playing in this league a long time and I've made a lot of different plays,'' Westbrook told CSNBayArea.com. "I know I can still do those things.
