Since Tony Romo became Dallas' starting quarterback in November 2006, he has missed just three games, all in 2008 with a broken finger. But barring a shockingly good medical report Tuesday on his broken left clavicle, Romo will be out much longer this time, perhaps for the rest of what has become a lost season for the Cowboys -- owner Jerry Jones reportedly delivered a prognosis of six-to-eight weeks for Romo to heal.In a year that had begun so horribly for Romo and the Cowboys, with a 1-4 mark coming into the game with the Giants, Monday night was going so well. Thanks to two early interceptions of Eli Manning, a Romo touchdown pass to best buddy Jason Witten and a field goal, Dallas led 10-0.
The Cowboys then got the ball in New York territory again after another Giants turnover. But two plays later, rookie fullback Chris Gronkowski gave Michael Boley a free shot on Romo and the linebacker pounded the quarterback into the turf.
Romo remained down momentarily before making his way to the sideline.
"I didn't know that it was broken," he said. "I was kind of in shock, having a hard time breathing. it was hard to move my [left] shoulder. It felt like it was kind of a sprain. I was really lightheaded. I couldn't get my senses at all."
