Braves Set Pitching Rotation, Give Derek Lowe Nod in Game 1

ATLANTA (AP) -- Derek Lowe, who won his last five starts of the regular season, will start for the Braves Thursday in Game 1 of the National League Division Series at San Francisco.

Manager Bobby Cox said Tuesday Tommy Hanson and Tim Hudson will follow Lowe in the rotation.

Cox says Lowe or rookie Brandon Beachy would start if a fourth game is needed. Lowe would be pitching on three days' rest.

Lowe has made five starts during the regular season on three days' rest, going 3-1 with a 4.40 ERA. He's done it just once in the postseason, going five innings and allowing two runs in a loss in the 2008 NLCS.

Cox says he will announce his roster on Thursday.
