Jets at BillsScore: Jets 38, Bills 14
The storyline: New York continued its dominant ways on the ground against Buffalo with 273 rushing yards as both LaDainian Tomlinson and Shonn Greene went over 100 yards and quarterback Mark Sanchez threw two touchdown passes with no interceptions. The Jets defense, well rested because of the lopsided time of possession advantage in favor of their offense, turned the Bills into a one-dimensional team and teed off on QB Ryan Fitzpatrick.
Key moment: Buffalo had seized some momentum going into the half after Fitzpatrick engineered an impressive 64-yard scoring drive to make it a 17-7 ballgame and opened the second half with the ball. Fitzpatrick moved the offense across midfield but then was sacked by Shaun Ellis for a 10-yard loss, leading to another punt and Sanchez led the Jets back into the end zone for the first of three touchdowns in a span of 3:29 to blow the game wide open.
Key stat: The Jets held the ball for 40:19, a testament to just how strong their offensive line was in opening holes for Tomlinson and Greene and giving Sanchez plenty of time to find his open receivers.
Where they stand: New York has won three straight to improve to 3-1 overall and 3-0 in the division, meaning it will hold onto first place regardless of what happens Monday night in Miami between the Dolphins and the New England Patriots. A Monday night game at home against the Minnesota Vikings is up next. Buffalo remains winless at 0-4 and 0-3 in the AFC East and hosts a Jacksonville team next Sunday coming off of a huge upset of the Indianapolis Colts.
Notable: Tomlinson's 133 rushing yards were the most for him in almost three years and the first time he has surpassed 100 yards in two seasons. He also passed Tony Dorsett on the all-time rushing list with 12,831 to move into seventh place and tied Hall-of-Famer Jim Brown for the most games with at least 100 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns with 25. For Buffalo, Fitzpatrick was the lone bright spot as he led the team in rushing with seven carries for 74 yards and completed 12-of-27 passes for 128 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions.
Quotable (Patriots): "I know what age I am. It doesn't mean I can't play. I never lost confidence. I always knew I could do it. It was just about having an opportunity.''
-- Jets running back LaDainian Tomlinson
