Ryder Cup Format Changed Due to Rain at Celtic Manor

Filed under:

Ryder CupDue to the rain delay that lasted over seven hours on Friday, Ryder Cup captains Corey Pavin and Colin Montgomerie agreed with tour officials on a rearranged schedule that aims for a Sunday finish.

The new scheduling arrangement will still keep all 28 tournament points at stake.

The new format has six foursome matches in the second session instead of the scheduled four, and two foursome and four fourball matches in the third session.

As a result, all 12 players on both sides will be playing in both sessions. After the team play is completed, all 12 singles matches are still scheduled to be played.
