Steve McNair's Widow, Children, Receive $500K Each For Now

Mechelle McNair, the widow of late NFL quarterback Steve McNair, won a request to get $2.5 million from the quarterback's estate on Friday.

Mechelle McNair asked a Nashville judge to unfreeze a portion of the estate so she and Steve McNair's four sons could have $500,000 each until the probate case is resolved. His estate was initially valued at $19.6 million and most of his assets have been frozen since his death on July 4, 2009. He died without a will.

McNair was 36 when he was killed in a homicide, in what was originally reported as a murder-suicide by mistress Sahel Kazemi. He was shot to death in his downtown Nashville residency.

Mechelle McNair and Steve McNair had two sons together. Steve McNair had two sons from previous relationships.
