Terrell Owens Reportedly Fined $5,000 for Using Twitter Prior to Game

Cincinnati Bengals Terrell Owens Twitterwide receiver Terrell Owens has been fined $5,000 by the NFL for using Twitter before Sunday's game against Tampa Bay, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported.

A Twitter message from Owens' account was posted approximately an hour prior to kickoff, which is in violation of the NFL's social media policy that prohibits players from using Twitter 90 minutes before a game.

Owens admitted to violating the policy Tuesday. The tweet -- that he later said was part of his charity work with a group that helps children in Kenya -- read: "A lucky fan wearing my jersey 2day will get a signed football by Me & Ocho Cinco! My asst will pick U out!! Good luck!"
